Thank you for your interest in the College of Business Aztec
Business Alliance internship program at SDSU.
The Aztec Business Alliance matches MBA and upper division undergraduate
student interns with local companies and organizations.
The Aztec Business Alliance has students with business related
coursework in the areas of Accounting, Finance, Financial Services,
Marketing, Management, Information Systems and Real Estate registered
in our database.
Examples of typical internships are: market research for a new
product, identifying potential new business opportunities, developing
advertising and promotion plans, analyzing inventory control systems
or developing business and marketing plans.
Interns are placed in positions involving professional level work
in their field of expertise. Interns should be working on a specific
project or series of projects. The project should have a specific
beginning and end to allow the intern to identify the progress
they are making towards completion of the project.

Sponsored Internship
- Interns typically work on a specific project for a total of 120
hours.
Internship placement fees are $1,200 and $1,600 per each undergraduate
and graduate student respectively. Each undergraduate student receives
$1,000 stipend at the end, and each graduate student receives $1,400
stipend at the end.
Your company's contribution is tax deductible and all sponsored
interns are insured through the SDSU Research Foundation. International
students and those receiving certain scholarships are allowed
to compete for Sponsored Internships.
Direct Internship - Interns are available
for variable lengths of time and can be paid or unpaid internships.
Any payments made to interns come directly from the company.
Many international students are interested in obtaining working
experience in their field of study before returning to their home
country. The F1 regulations allow international students the opportunity
to obtain work experience in their field by providing an employment
authorization option known as practical training.
Practical training refers to any type of salaried employment, paid
internship, or practicum, which is related to an F1 student's field
of study. Unpaid volunteer work is not considered practical training,
and does not require work authorization.
Direct Interns are not insured through the SDSU Research
Foundation.
Unpaid internships are automatically removed from our website after
60 days.
The Aztec Business Alliance is a self-supporting
activity of the College of Business at SDSU. Funds generated
are used for faculty advising, computer support and other operating
costs. Extraordinary project costs, such as printing and mailing
are billed at cost to the client.
